Warning: This post describes an eagle hunting its prey. I am just warning you to lessen disturbance.
"Romeo, oh Romeo! Where art thou Romeo?"
My powerful wings beat the silent air. The wind rushing against my
face felt refreshing and strong. I closed my eyes as I swept closer
to the earth. Below me, a white hare hopped nonchalantly. Did it
not realize that its predator was hovering nearly above it? I
silenced my wings and stared down. A loud screech of triumph
escaped me as I closed my wings to my slender sides and nose dived
down to earth. Opening my powerful talons, I waited to reach the
ground. When the rabbit heard my call of hunger, it had skittered a
bit away, but I had the advantage and i swooped down to pick it up.
Its slender neck was a perfect place to grip. The white rabbit was
now covered in warm blood. The blood splattered over my beak, but I
just shook the rabbit. Soaring up above the tree tops, I felt eh
rabbit finally go limp in my mouth. I smiled with glory. I jerked
the rabbit to the left slightly and heard a small pop. Its neck
cracked. Its dull, lifelss eyes hid fear, anger and hatred. I
laughed. Screeching once more, I pointed my wings downward and
descented. I reached the ground and pecked my meal. The rabbit was
tender and delicious. Once the rabbit was devoured, I scouted the
area for wolves. These nasty creatures were hard to escape from and
I was constantly on the lookout. I knew that hiding was not the way
to conquer your fears, but when your fears were 200 pounds and
menacing what choice did I have? I left the carcass of the now red
rabbit for some other animal. I was suddenly not hungry. I walked
quickly forward and surged forward. My left visionary was not of
help to me, for all of my left side was black. It was a wonder I
could still hunt, but I was skilled and truely perfect. Shaking my
talons and pumping my wings I smiled. This was the way to live.
Now all I had to do was wait for a female. Then I could take her
back to my home. Well, my almost home. I would earn the Neutral
land of the Eagles.
"Oh, my Juliet. Calm your fears. Thee will find thy's heart soon enough."
